This presentation will highlight key findings from the Willis Towers Watson 2018 Best Practices Survey. We will share respondent data regarding the actions employers are taking to enhance the performance of health plans for employees. We will also share insights into employer actions and plans to control health care costs and achieve optimal outcomes for active employees. The discussion will include such topics as strategy and planning, financial management, pharmacy management, health management, employee financial, social and emotional well being, and employee engagement and experience.

Jerry Konal is a Senior Director in the health and benefits business in Willis Towers Watson’s Southfield and Detroit offices. He joined the health and benefits practice in June 2017 with extensive experience in all facets of health care services delivery. Jerry has more than 30 years of consulting and human resource management experience. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, Jerry served as the Michigan Health and Benefits Practice Leader for a global consulting firm, providing strategic consultation and support to a cross section of industry clients. Jerry previously served as the Executive Director of Benefits for Trinity Health CHE, one of the largest health systems in the country, responsible for directing benefit program/plan design and development, strategic planning, vendor management, quality assurance and metrics, and contract negotiations. In addition to his extensive experience in the health care industry, Jerry has also led a range of consulting projects for organizations in higher education, automotive manufacturing, financial services, and several other industry segments. Jerry has worked with national health care leaders on a variety of process improvement and strategic planning initiatives, and has spoken in a variety of forums on a wide range of topics in health care and employee benefits. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Labor Management, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Wayne State University.
